To be a member of the Infection Prevention and Control team flu campaign, providing flu and covid-19 vaccination services for BEHMHT staff.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  1. Act as an advocate for the Trust & its contribution to the Public Health through creating and maintaining effective partnerships and relationships with staff and stakeholders.
  2. Develop and support the Trust culture of collaborative, flexible cross-team working and commitment to delivering the trust flu and covid-19 vaccination campaign.
  3. Work with sensitivity and an understanding of the issues facing those working to deliver health services.
  4. Comply with corporate governance structure in keeping with the principles and standards set out by the Trust. 
  5. Aid in improving accessibility of flu and covid-19 jabs, dispel misconceptions and help tackle situations where wards, areas or people are negative towards vaccination.
  6. Participate in the planning and delivery of the annual flu vaccination programme and any covid-19 vaccinations to protect staff, reduce sickness absence during winter pressures and to reduce possibility of flu epidemic within BEHMHT. Participate in the planning and delivery of flu vaccination clinics offered to all BEHMHT staff.
  7. Liaise with Senior Professionals and related functions to ensure that work is neither overlooked nor duplicated. Build and sustain effective communications with other roles involved in the shared projects, programmes or tasks as required
  8. Development of an organisational culture, that fosters collaborative working among all staff groups to ensure a focused commitment to delivering quality services and outcomes
  9. Increase the level of knowledge & skills within the Trust through documenting key learning
  10. To be aware of and work in accordance with the policies, procedures and Values of the Trust as appropriate in Occupational Health, utilising resources appropriately. Maintain high professional standards as set by the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  11. Participate in the management of the flu vaccination campaign; maintain records on a day to day basis. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the needs of staff in relation to flu vaccination.
  12. Maintain stocks in the treatment room. Ensure vaccinations are ordered maintaining adequate supplies to cover demands and stored according to policy

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current RMN/RGN/RNLD registration with NMC
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of involvement in Flu Campaigns
  • Previous experience as a peer vaccinator
