Barnet Enfield & Haringey Mental Health Trust, providing both mental health and community services, is an organisation that is going places!

Our values and quality improvement are at the heart of everything we do, please consider joining us.

Clinical Nurse Specialist – Barnet Adolescent Service, Barnet CAMHS – Band 7

We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Nurse in the Barnet Adolescent Service.

We are a consultant led multidisciplinary team offering an outpatient CAMH service to 13-17 year olds who meet our referral criteria, from across the borough of Barnet. We are currently based at Holly Oak Clinic, part of the Edgware Community Hospital.

We offer our service to those adolescents referred to CAMHS who would benefit from a more focused and immediate response in order to encourage engagement in those who may well find this difficult, e.g. those with chronic self-harm or newly emerging psychosis, high risk adolescents, such as those in the criminal justice system or with long term social care involvement, dual diagnosis with substance misuse, homeless or no longer living with their parents but not looked after, or have left school and not as yet established in further education or training.

Due to this group’s particular needs we do not have a waiting list, seeing adolescents within 2-4 weeks and high risk cases within 2-5 days. We work collaboratively as a team sharing cases in order to be able to support young people up to 3 times a week. We also use the CYP IAPT model where appropriate and regularly use their outcome measures.

Currently, Barnet CAMHS is undergoing a transformation, meaning it is an exciting time to join our service. Through the transformation, the adolescent service is developing a specialist CAMHS DBT pathway, and we would welcome applications with experience working in a DBT framework, or someone willing to undergo DBT training. We would also value candidate with CBT or EMDR training to support young people who have experienced trauma.

Applicants must have:

  • Experience of working clinically with young people with acute and/or complex mental health issues in NHS settings;
  • Be confident to work independently both in community clinic based and outreach environments;
  • Experience of working with the professional network around the young person;
  • Be able to use own initiative and also to work as part of a team
  • Candidates for all clinical posts must be registered with a recognised professional body
