Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH) provides healthcare services locally, regionally and nationally. As a multiple award winning Trust we provide mental health services for young people, adults and older people, and have a full range of child and adult community health services in Enfield. Our North London Forensic Service treats and cares for people in the criminal justice system who have mental health conditions. We also provide one of the largest eating disorders services in England, as well as drug and alcohol services, and mental health liaison services at Barnet Hospital and the North Middlesex University Hospital.

We are seeking applications for suitably qualified professionals for the Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse posts with the Enfield Community Rehab Team. The Enfield Community Rehab Team is located at Park Avenue Mental Health Resource Centre 1st Floor 65C Park Avenue EN1 2HL where the posts will be based.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, committed and experienced Community Psychiatric nurse
who have a good understanding of the mental, physical and social needs of individuals with psychosis, good understanding of assessment processes and knowledge in care planning appropriate to clients’ needs.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will need to have experience in working in a multidisciplinary environment, working effectively with a range of other professionals in a variety of settings and working with relatives, carers and other agencies in the best interest of the clients.

We require excellent communication, organisational & time management skills, the ability to motivate yourself & others and the ability to work alone or as part of a team and a flexible approach to work..

The post holder will be responsible for the management of a defined caseload and will be acting as Care Coordinator for individuals living in 24 hour placement in the community.

Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust is responsible for providing mental health services for people of all ages across the London Boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey, as well as providing some specialist services across the whole of North London and beyond. Since January 2011, the Trust also provides adult and children’s community health services in Enfield, following the transfer of Enfield Community Services from NHS Enfield.

Enfield Community Rehab Team forms part of the Psychosis Service Line within Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Registered Mental Health Practitioner
  • Dip/BSc (Hons) in Mental Health Nursing or Occupational Therapy
  • Evidence of further post-registration education and training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum two years post registration experience, one of which will be as working with people with complex mental health problems.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work under pressure in acute situations with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to undertake evidence based interventions with people suffering from a range of mental health problems
  • Ability to undertake comprehensive risk assessment and implement risk management plans.
  • The ability to implement clinical and line management supervision.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Basic IT skills
  • Understanding of current issues informing the Health Agenda.
  • Understanding of statutory policy relating to mental health care delivery incl. Care Programme Approach, National Service Framework for Mental Health and the Mental Health Act
