Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust is responsible for providing mental health services for people of all ages across the London Boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey, as well as providing some specialist services across the whole of North London and beyond. Since January 2011, the Trust also provides adult and children’s community health services in Enfield, following the transfer of Enfield Community Services from NHS Enfield.

The successful applicant will have a unique opportunity to work in this dynamic service and will be based in the inpatient unit, Beacon Centre. The team provides inpatient treatment for adolescents aged 12 to 18th birthday with severe mental health problems. The team liaises closely with local CAMHS, paediatricians, local authority and schools.
The post is offered as 1.0 WTE with the candidate required to commit to specific day time sessions as detailed in the timetable. There is no on-call associated with the post.
The post is intended for a doctor with appropriate experience in both psychiatry and day-to-day responsibility of medical/paediatric care. Experience in child and adolescent psychiatry, an MRC Psych or similar post-graduate qualifications, and registration under Section 12 of The Mental Health Act would be an advantage. It is essential that the post holder has the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
The successful applicant will be required to start as soon as possible.
The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
