As a multiple award winning Trust we provide mental health services for young people, adults and older people, and have a full range of child and adult community health services in Enfield. Our North London Forensic Service treats and cares for people in the criminal justice system who have mental health conditions. We also provide one of the largest eating disorders services in England, as well as drug and alcohol services, and mental health liaison services at Barnet Hospital and the North Middlesex University Hospital.

Job overview

Are you interested in working for an exciting proactive team? Barnet Enfield and Haringey Crisis Team is looking for 2 full-time band 6, nurse practitioner to work within the teams.

This is a diverse and challenging role that requires the development of specialist skills to deliver recovery focused interventions to adults in a mental health crisis. Our focus is to support service users to remain in their own home in order to aid their recovery during the crisis episode.

You will be a qualified Mental Health Nurse and will have worked in a multi-disciplinary team. You will need to have significant post qualification experience in mental health and preferably within crisis services.

The post requires practitioners to be confident assessors who can make clear decisions about risk management, care planning and the appropriateness of home treatment team interventions.

Main duties of the job

The CRHT is crucial in delivering urgent crisis resolution and treatment to service users by assessing their needs and caring for them in the least restrictive environment.

The service will also ensure effective gatekeeping of all service users referred to the service for admission to Hospital. The service will operate on an outreach basis with the majority of assessments taking place in non-Hospital environments.

The post holder will contribute to the effective operation of a multi-disciplinary CRHT service. The post holder will be an active member of the integrated multi-disciplinary team, providing a 24 hour community based Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Service as an alternative to hospital admission. The post holder will be expected to facilitate early discharge from assessment and admission wards, participate in daily and planned reviews.
