Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Band 6 Registered Occupational Therapist to join the Barnet Crisis and Home Treatment team. The team supports people experiencing an acute mental health episode in Barnet. You will be part of a resilient, welcoming and professional team. The team takes a recovery orientated, formulation driven approach which values shared decision making.

Main duties of the job

The Home Treatment Team will operate over 7 days and the core hours will be 08.00-20.15hrs. You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team and there is ample opportunity to develop and enhance your existing clinical skills. You will receive regular supervision and there are good training opportunities.

As a member of the team you will provide a service to those individuals who present with a mental health crisis who may require a period of crisis intervention as an alternative to admission. Applicants should be highly motivated, have the ability to act on own initiative and have sound assessment and written skills.

Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Essential criteria
  • Dip/BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy
  • HPC registered OT
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of other Post Qualifying education

Professional experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in using a range of standardised OT assessments
  • Experience of acute inpatients and/or community areas, working with people going through a mental health crisis.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Knowledge and skills

Essential criteria
  • Experience of having had clinical Supervision, understanding of Supervision.
  • Ability to work well in a team setting.
  • Understanding of legal framework and social factors involved in community care.
  • Experience of risk assessment/management in an acute and/or community setting.
Desirable criteria
  • Specific clinical skills applicable in an acute community setting e.g. brief therapy, cognitive therapy, and anxiety management
