Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust is responsible for providing mental health services for people of all ages across the London Boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey, as well as providing some specialist services across the whole of North London and beyond. Since January 2011, the Trust also provides adult and children’s community health services in Enfield, following the transfer of Enfield Community Services from NHS Enfield.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join the Generic / Neurodevelopmental  Community CAMHS Service based in Enfield.

You will be working as part of an established Generic Tier 3 CAMHS team contributing to the provision of a specialist and multi-disciplinary community based Child and Adolescent Mental Health service to the borough of Enfield. You will be working closely with schools, the local authority and GPs.

The community CAMHS team is supportive and welcoming and we encourage applications from professionals with a broad skill base, as the work will assess and treat a diverse range of conditions including neurodevelopmental concerns.


Enfield CAMHS Overview

Enfield Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) offers help to children and young people up to their 18th birthday who are experiencing mental health difficulties and their families. The service is based in the community offering outpatient appointments, and is accessed via GP’s or other professionals working with young people who may refer directly into the service. Core Trust services include:


The Generic / Neurodevelopmental Service CAMHS Team provides a comprehensive range of assessment and therapeutic interventions, and consultation to professionals dealing with children, young people and families with emotional and behavioural difficulties, as well as providing assessment and treatment for Autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions.


The Service for Adolescents and Families in Enfield (SAFE) provides a comprehensive, rapid and flexible service with a particular focus on addressing the most urgent and acute problems facing troubled adolescents, including self-harm and severe mental health crises.  A range of therapeutic approaches is offered singly or in combination with consultation to professionals dealing with adolescents in crisis.


The Service for Children and Adolescents with Neuro-Developmental Disorders (SCAN) is a specialist team for children and young people with severe learning disabilities and neuro-developmental disorders, where the degree of impairment is coupled with mental health problems. It has close links with the Child Development Team and  Social Services.


The Health, Education, Access and Resource Team (HEART) offers a range of services to improve the emotional wellbeing of looked after children. This includes assessment and treatment for emotional difficulties, consultation for carers and professional staff, and support to a therapeutic fostering service.


Children’s Centres Therapeutic Team (CCTT) is a service delivered by CAMHS  to help children under 5. This service is provided in local Children’s Centres and can help with parent and child issues which may be affecting their relationship or concerns around a child’s emotional / behavioural development.


CAMHS provides Specialist Clinical Psychology for the Child Development Team for assessment and treatment for Autism and other neuro-developmental conditions in young children up to age 6.
