We also provide one of the largest eating disorders services in England, as well as drug and alcohol services, and mental health liaison services at Barnet Hospital and the North Middlesex University Hospital.

Job overview

This Dietetic Assistant post is for the dietetic mental health service which is based at Chase Farm hospital in Enfield. The dietetic department delivers a service to several mental health and Forensic wards and to an outpatient caseload. We are looking for an enthusiastic Dietetic Assistant who has an interest in, or ideally, experience of providing care to patients with mental Health conditions. The ideal candidate would need to take initiative and possesses good communication and problem-solving skills to assist the dietitians mainly with administrative support and also provide dietetic reviews to inpatients with the guidance and support of the dietitians. You may work with the broader multi-disciplinary team and liaise with our external agencies if it is needed as part of your role.

Main duties of the job

The Mental Health dietetic service forms part of the specialist services under Barnet Enfield Haringey Mental Health Trust. However, the dietetic department is line managed through Enfield Health and you will be a core part of our wider therapy team. Enfield Health provides a range of services to adults across Enfield including Community Therapies and specialist services for people with Long term conditions such as Diabetes and Heart Failure. As part of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust, we are using our integrated physical and mental health skill sets to improve the holistic care given to people in all care settings.

Qualifications and educations

Essential criteria
  • English and mathematics qualification at GSCE or equivalent level.
Desirable criteria
  • Training courses relevant to care group
  • Relevant qualification e.g. C & G Health & Social Care NVQ 3 or equivalent

Experience and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working effectively within a team.
  • Some experience, paid or voluntary of working within a Dietetic department
  • Demonstrate an understanding or interest of healthcare in relation to Nutrition and Dietetics.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in running group education programmes
  • Experience of visiting patients within their own homes and working as a lone worker.
  • Experience of using RiO.

Skills and abilities

Essential criteria
  • Word processing and PC skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously & set own priorities in a busy working environment.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Administrative skills

Personal qualities and other requirements
