Our North London Forensic Service treats and cares for people in the criminal justice system who have mental health conditions. We also provide one of the largest eating disorders services in England, as well as drug and alcohol services, and mental health liaison services at Barnet Hospital and the North Middlesex University Hospital.

Job overview

 We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative Band 4 Therapy Technical Instructor  to work within our Neuro Rehabilitation Team at Magnolia Unit.

The Neuro Therapy Team provide inpatient rehabilitation for adults following stroke, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and other neurological conditions. Our patients have multiple pathologies and complex needs that require comprehensive assessment, intensive rehabilitation and effective discharge planning by the multi-disciplinary team which you will be an integral part of. We strive to deliver a high-quality service at all times.

 

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be supported to develop competence to complete a variety of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy assessments and treatments. The team is forward thinking and committed to continued professional and career development of all staff. We have a robust In-Service Training Programme and all staff are encouraged to attend.

This post requires a level of personal responsibility and we are looking for a person with excellent communication skills and good organisational skills

Education

Essential criteria
  • • Relevant qualification e.g. C & G Health & Social Care NVQ 3 or equivalent work experience.
  • • Training courses relevant to care group
  • • English qualification at GSCE or equivalent level.
Desirable criteria
  • Trusted Assessors Training.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria
  • Experience at working at Band 4 level
  • Experience working within a therapy setting
  • Experience of using aids and adaptions
  • Evience of working with and caring for adults in an acute setting, e.g. A&E/ Orthopaedics/Care of the Elderly/Rehabilitation

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work autonomously & set own priorities
  • Ability to fulfil routine duties, both physically and mentally, including all aspects of moving and handling patients.
  • Negotiation skills
  • Word processing and internet skills
