Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust is responsible for providing mental health services for people of all ages across the London Boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey, as well as providing some specialist services across the whole of North London and beyond. Since January 2011, the Trust also provides adult and children’s community health services in Enfield, following the transfer of Enfield Community Services from NHS Enfield.

Occupational Therapist

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our innovative and dynamic team at the North London Forensic Service. The service provides medium and low secure in-patient services for service users who have a mental illness and/or learning disability, as well as healthcare provision to HMYOI Feltham, HMP Pentonville and HMP Brixton. The post holder will deliver OT provision to a designated caseload, focusing on functional daily living skills and specific mental health and risk issues. This will include the assessment, treatment and evaluation of clinical interventions, planning and implementing a range of therapeutic individual and group work, carrying out functional assessments and contributing to multidisciplinary team care planning and risk assessments. Successful candidates will have strong engagement and motivation skills and be able to work well with service users with complex mental health needs and a forensic / offending history. Effective written and verbal communication skills with a working knowledge the occupational therapy process and application of the Model of Human Occupation are also essential.  Full time or part time will be considered.
