We serve a population of 1.2 million, employ more than 3,300 staff, and operate from over 20 main sites in the community. As a multiple award winning Trust we provide mental health services for young people, adults and older people, and have a full range of child and adult community health services in Enfield. Our North London Forensic Service treats and cares for people in the criminal justice system who have mental health conditions. We also provide one of the largest eating disorders services in England, as well as drug and alcohol services, and mental health liaison services at Barnet Hospital and the North Middlesex University Hospital.

Job overview

In Enfield, we provide a full range of Mental health services for all ages both community and inpatient services. The Division also manages the Trust’s older people’s inpatient services, Place of Safety, PICU and the Trust Rehabilitation Ward on the Chase Farm Hospital site. This unique opportunity has arisen due to staff retirement for a well-equipped Community Services Manager in Enfield Mental Health Division.

Main duties of the job

Enfield is a vibrant area which is being heavily invested in by the Long-term Plan funds. We are looking for someone from a professional background who has the skills to deliver our Community Transformation Program and lead on many of the program streams. You will be responsible for building a compassionate, expert team in partnership with the council and our voluntary sector colleagues. Co-design and co-production are central to our philosophy and building the Recovery College with our team as this is essential to our new integrated model of care. The Recovery College and Flow Coaching Academy provide many opportunities for service and staff development. BEH has an active Quality Improvement culture and QI Faculty. All staff are offered QI in-service training. The Trust recently received backing from the Health Foundation to become the first mental health Trust to be a Flow Coaching Academy (FCA).

Essential criteria
  • NMC registered qualification (RMN/RGN) or equivalent professional registration
  • Master’s Degree (MSC/MBA) or equivalent experience
  • Leadership management qualification - post Graduate and/or post registration
  • Evidence of ongoing personal development in management and current experience in Adult Mental Health services – at senior level
Desirable criteria
  • Project Management qualification

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Recent experience of managing Community Services / Teams.
  • Advanced understanding of the wider Health and Social Care governance system.
  • Understanding of Mental Health policy and Social Care policy
  • An understanding of the MH Performance Framework.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of Transformation programs

Other Skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate an ability to communicate service related information to senior managers, staff and external agencies/partners.
  • Demonstrate ability for operational planning and business planning.
  • Ability to give formal presentations/manage and reconcile conflicting views where there are significant barriers to acceptance or understanding.
  • A commitment to the engagement and involvement of service user in delivering a high quality service.
