Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust is responsible for providing mental health services for people of all ages across the London Boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey, as well as providing some specialist services across the whole of North London and beyond. Since January 2011, the Trust also provides adult and children’s community health services in Enfield, following the transfer of Enfield Community Services from NHS Enfield.
Please note - Barnet, Enfield & Haringey Mental Health Trust will only accept on-line application forms.
We are seeking a full time Locum Specialty Doctor to the Silver Birches, dementia assessment ward and West Enfield Older People’s Community Mental Health Team (OPCMHT). This is an established post with the vacancy arising as the current post holder is moving to a different role.
The post holder will support the consultant psychiatrist on Silver Birches providing medical input to the ward.
Silver Birches ward has thirteen beds. There are seven male beds and six female beds devoted to the acute assessment of patients living in the three boroughs with different types of dementia (including late and early onset) presenting with behavioral problems.
The Trust works to the ‘productive ward’ model of acute in-patient care that involves regular senior review of patients through regular ward meetings using the whiteboard approach, the close involvement of CMHT staff at review meetings, and the management of patients to minimise delays to discharge and limit the time people spend as in-patients. Close liaison with borough CMHTs is essential in ensuring the active management of the in-patient experience for older people.
This post is fixed term for 6 months pending Royal College approval to recruit substantively.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
