Clinical Psychologist - Band 8a

We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent 0.4 WTE Band 8a Clinical Psychologist in Oncology at North Middlesex University Hospital.  The post is Macmillan badged; the Macmillan Clinical Psychology service is an established service, situated within the Radiotherapy department, and embedded within oncology at North Middlesex University Hospital.   The post sits within a small, but well-established Clinical Health Psychology team.

It is comprised of 0.6 WTE Band 8a and a 0.5 WTE Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

The post holder will see patients mostly in an out-patient capacity, but there will be some in-patient work also.  The post holder will provide education and consultation to team members, including running Clinical Discussion groups on a monthly basis for Clinical Nurse Specialists. The post holder will work with a wide range of professionals both within and outside of oncology. The post holder will have a readiness to work with a population with varied socio –economic and cultural backgrounds, including those with traumatic life experiences.

The post holder will receive clinical supervision in-house from the Consultant Clinical Psychologist, and can expect support from the Clinical Health Psychology team, the oncology service, the wider trust and Macmillan

The post holder should be enthusiastic and motivated, ideally with:

  • Experience of working in oncology and/or Palliative care
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work both autonomously and as a team member 

Situated in Edmonton, North London with a multi-cultural community, North Middlesex University Hospital is close to transport links to central London (closest Overground station is Silver Street). The M11 and M25 are nearby.

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
